Artist workshops and Commission

A new planting scheme for the Spinney including varieties of roses will be planted to bloom thoughout much of the year on the Spinney to create both an air of abundance and a lavish scent to the village centre.

A colour palette for the rose garden has been selected by drawing on Rose-tinted watercolour workshops. This colour palette will become Leysdown specific, and used in revamping promenade fascias, signage and the local environment.

During Summer 2010 Francisknight organised a series of outdoor watercolour workshops with artist Cathy Bird where participants learnt to paint in watercolours and to capture the natural beauty of Leysdown.

The Kent Cultural Baton by artist Nicole Mollet also took up residency during Carnival weekend with a 'A Rose, is a Rose, is a Rose' where participants created paper roses and love letters for Leysdown.

During Summer 2011 the rose garden will be planted on the Spinney and FrancisKnight have commissioned artist Alun Heslop to create a structure for the garden.
